Lifelong Learning = Lifelong Possibilities
Teacher Application

We're delighted that you have expressed an interest in teaching for FIRST CLASS, Inc. FIRST CLASS, Inc. uses an evaluation system based on three questions to determine whether or not you become a regular presenter in the First Class, Inc. catalog.

  1. CLASS TITLE: The three key guidelines to follow are: a) Keep it brief, b) Be crystal clear in your word choice and c) Entice the reader to instantly register.

  2. DESCRIPTION: Be accurate -don't promise something that you cannot deliver. Be SPECIFIC - very few students will sign up for a class that is outlined in general terms. This is the primary reason that most class proposals are rejected. What makes your class different? Can I get the same information from a magazine article?

  3. CLASS FEES: A two-hour class is generally priced at $25 and a three-hour class is priced at $29. An all day workshop is priced at $49. Materials (with the exception of art supplies) are your responsibility.

  4. TEACHER REMUNERATION: You will receive a commission fee based on the total number of students in attendance. The fee is calculated as follows: (number of students) x ($8.70) less (a $30 room rental fee) = your payment. The classes are held at 1726 20th St., N.W., Washington, D.C. PLEASE do not view this as a money-making opportunity!!

  5. SCHEDULE: Most classes meet one time for 2-3 hours, but some topics require more than one session. Put down tentative dates on the attached form and they will be confirmed if you are selected for an interview.

  6. BIOGRAPHY: Your biography should "sparkle." Include specific places of employment, media attention, books and/or articles authored, and former teaching experience.
